Essent receives €30 million support for hydrogen projects

Let’s linger a bit longer in the Netherlands, for Essent has also secured over €30 million in subsidies from the Dutch Ministry of Climate and Green Growth to move not one, but two hydrogen projects forward: GROHW in Deventer and HyDeer in Flevoland. If all goes according to plan, GROHW and HyDeer could soon demonstrate how green hydrogen production, transport and use can be tied neatly together at regional level.

The GROHW project, backed with €5 million, will build a 2,5 MW electrolyser powered by locally produced green electricity. HyDeer, with €25 million support, is even larger: a 20 MW installation that should produce around 2100 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually. Both aim for RFNBO certification, ensuring the hydrogen qualifies as fully renewable under EU standards.
