CMB.TECH invests in Chinese green ammonia supply chain
CMB.TECH NV has announced a strategic investment in China’s green ammonia supply infrastructure, signing an off-take agreement for renewable ammonia produced by CEEC Hydrogen Energy’s Songyuan project in Jilin Province - which is expected to produce around 158,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually starting January 2026. The maritime group also acquired a minority stake in Jiangsu Andefu Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a major Chinese ammonia supply chain company. This partnership supports the creation of vital ammonia storage and distribution hubs, including a 49,000 m³ low-temperature storage tank in Nanjing due by Q1 2026 and a new terminal in Panjin slated for H2 2027, plus plans for ship-to-ship ammonia bunkering in 2026 to serve the emerging ammonia-fuelled shipping fleet. Together with CMB.TECH’s expanding fleet of dual-fuel ammonia-capable ships - 11 vessels due for delivery in 2026 - this investment strengthens global green ammonia logistics and advances decarbonisation of maritime transport by enabling greater access to low-carbon fuel supplies.
