Air Liquide moves ahead with 200 MW electrolyser in Rotterdam
Following support from Dutch government (see previous article), Air Liquide has taken the final investment decision to build ELYgator, a 200 MW electrolyser at the Maasvlakte in the Port of Rotterdam. Backed as well by the EU Innovation Fund and IPCEI, the project represents an investment of over €500 million.
Once operational in 2027, ELYgator is expected to produce 23 000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by up to 300 000 tonnes per year. The plant will supply mainly industrial customers, including TotalEnergies, and uniquely combines both PEM and alkaline technologies at one site.
