Agfa targets the Chinese and Asian markets with its Zirfon membrane
Agfa was demonstrating its ZIRFON™ membranes at the China International Hydrogen Congress and Expo (CIHC), last week March 23-26, 2026. Designed for alkaline water electrolysers, these membranes combine high performance, durability, and safety, with lifetimes exceeding ten years and consistent, reproducible results - key enablers for industrial-scale hydrogen deployment. With formats now reaching up to two metres and production capacity expanding at its Mortsel facility, Agfa is positioning itself to meet growing global demand - hereby explicitly targeting the rapidly expanding Chinese and Asian hydrogen markets. By improving efficiency, lowering costs, and ensuring long-term stability, ZIRFON technology plays a critical role in accelerating the scale-up of green hydrogen and advancing the transition to a low-carbon energy system.
