€700 million boost for Dutch green hydrogen projects

The Dutch Ministry of Climate and Green Growth government has awarded more than €700 million in subsidies to 11 projects that will add about 602 MW of electrolysis capacity, which is over three times the size of Holland Hydrogen 1, currently the country’s largest hydrogen plant under construction.

The winning projects are spread across the country (see list below). Their hydrogen will supply refineries, the chemical industry and fuelling stations - enough to power 5,000 hydrogen trucks for a year. That’s a lot of zero-emission mileage on Dutch roads! The subsidy scheme bridges the cost gap between renewable and fossil hydrogen, with subsidies awarded competitively to the projects needing the least support per megawatt.
