Icoon_wagen.pngHydrogen-powered car at WaterstofNet

WaterstofNet has been driving a hydrogen car, the Hyundai ix 35, since October 2014.
The car, which is powered by a fuel cell, is zero-emission, has a range of more than 500 km and can be refueled within 5 minutes (5 kg of hydrogen at 700 bar).

Refueling mainly takes place at the hydrogen filling station of WaterstofNet on the Automotive Campus in Helmond. In the past 6 years, the car has covered 94,000 km without any problems  and many interested parties have been able to drive the car, whereby the first experiences were unanimously positive.

Within the HyTrec project, WaterstofNet has demonstrated that you can drive from Brussels to Vejle (Denmark) with a hydrogen car, a total distance of 800 km. Refueling took place in Halle (Belgium), Helmond (Netherlands), Düsseldorf, Hamburg (Germany) and Vejle (Denmark).

WaterstofNet also traveled by car to Bolzano and - as part of the Dutch International Hydrogen Challenge - to London.

The car went - as the first Belgian hydrogen car - to the compulsory vehicle inspection on 17 September 2018 and did not receive any comments on the inspection card.

The role of WaterstofNet

WaterstofNet introduced the hydrogen car to a general public in Flanders and the Netherlands.
