Waterstof Industrie Cluster celebrates 10 Years of hydrogen collaboration

On the 1st of June, nearly 200 stakeholders from across the hydrogen sector gathered in Antwerp to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Waterstof Industrie Cluster (WIC), marking a decade of collaboration, innovation and ecosystem building in Flanders. The event highlighted the pivotal role WIC has played in bringing together industry, policymakers, research organisations and technology developers to strengthen the Flemish hydrogen ecosystem and position it on the European and international stage. Speakers including Isabel François, Bert De Colvenaer, Jef Colruyt, Ariadne Petridis and Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele reflected on the evolution of the hydrogen economy, the strategic importance of hydrogen for industry and ports, and the need to accelerate infrastructure development across the Benelux region. The event also showcased the next generation of hydrogen innovation through KU Leuven’s HydroTeam hydrogen-powered race car and a hydrogen truck developed by VDL Groep and Colruyt Group in the H2Haul project, demonstrating the growing maturity of hydrogen technologies for mobility applications. Looking ahead, the celebration underscored a shared ambition to further strengthen hydrogen leadership, foster new partnerships and support the energy transition through continued collaboration across the hydrogen value chain.
