Results of first H2global auction have been announced
The H2Global foundation has announced the initial results of its first auction of 900M€ for green hydrogen imports to Europe, which they launched at the end of 2022.
The auction consisted of three different ‘lots’, covering green ammonia, green methanol and e-sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF).
The ammonia ‘lot’ attracted bids from 22 consortia/companies from five continents.
The only winning bidder- chosen from 5 finalists- is Fertiglobe, a joint venture between fertiliser group OCI and Abu Dhabi’s state-owned oil company ADNOC. They will start producing renewable ammonia for export to European ports in 2027 for a maximum contract value of 397M€. This amount is entirely funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK)..
