Report: Boston Consulting Group draws outline for a new federal hydrogen strategy

Last week Boston Consulting Group (BSC) launched a new report on a five-step plan towards growing the role of hydrogen in Belgium’s economy. This report is the result of a collaboration with the Belgian Government, working with the Prime Minister, Federal Minister of Energy, and State Secretary of Economic Recovery and Strategic Investments, as well as their Cabinets. Key representatives from the private sector, regulatory bodies, public services, academia, and selected federations were consulted in this process.

Hydrogen is emerging as a key lever to achieve Europe’s energy targets, including reduced dependency on natural gas and its producers, and reduced emissions of greenhouse gases. Building further on the Federal Hydrogen Strategy launched in 2021, this report assesses Belgium’s current position and identifies the next steps to achieve Belgium’s hydrogen ambitions.
