Parliament approves Hydrogen law
The federal parliament has given the go-ahead for Belgium's first hydrogen law, which regulates the transportation of hydrogen by pipeline. This may be the first such law worldwide.
Minister of Energy Tinne Van der Straeten (Green) already launched a first federal hydrogen strategy in 2021 to take this forward. The new hydrogen law introduces a regulatory framework for transporting hydrogen by pipeline.
The intention is to designate one grid operator for hydrogen transportation in our country. This will be responsible for the development of and free access to the transport network and for guaranteeing the quality of the hydrogen.
