Limburg to Be Connected to National Hydrogen Network
The Waterstofnetwerk Limburg project aims to develop an underground hydrogen pipeline linking Ravenstein in North Brabant to Schinnen in Limburg, with a branch connection to the Chemelot industrial site. The majority of the Limburg route will make use of existing natural gas pipelines. Where reuse is not possible, new pipeline sections will be constructed. The connection will integrate Limburg into the Dutch national hydrogen network, supporting the transition to a more sustainable energy system.
In the meantime the first major pipeline section of this Dutch hydrogen network - in Rotterdam - has been filled with hydrogen. This marks an important milestone in the development of the hydrogen infrastructure that will form the backbone of the Dutch and ultimately European hydrogen market. A total of 32 tonnes of green hydrogen was supplied to fill the 32-kilometre pipeline section.
