HyTerra & Prometheus hydrogen forge first-of-its-kind purified hydrogen delivery deal in 2026

Australian natural hydrogen explorer HyTerra Limited and U.S. technology firm Prometheus Hydrogen have signed a collaboration agreement to carry out what is being positioned as the world’s first end-to-end delivery of purified geologic (natural) hydrogen, marking a pioneering step in hydrogen supply chain innovation that spans production, purification, storage, transport and final delivery to an end user in the United States. Under the agreement, HyTerra will supply raw gas containing geologic hydrogen from its project site, and Prometheus Hydrogen will take up to 9 kg of that hydrogen, purify it, store it using its proprietary low-pressure technology, and then transport and dispense it - demonstrating a practical integrated hydrogen value chain ahead of December 1, 2026. This collaboration combines HyTerra’s expertise in identifying and extracting naturally occurring hydrogen - sometimes called “white hydrogen” - with Prometheus’s advanced midstream solutions that can reduce the cost and complexity of hydrogen storage and transport, potentially bypassing conventional high-pressure pipelines and enabling more flexible delivery options. If the demonstration is successful, the partners plan to explore broader commercial and international opportunities, potentially unlocking new pathways for deploying low-carbon hydrogen in industrial and energy markets.
