Hydrogen taxi successful after six-month pilot project in Brussels

Halfway through the hydrogen cab pilot project in Brussels, Virya Energy and Taxis Verts made an initial analysis. And it turns out to be rather positive.

Since its launch in September 2022, the hydrogen cab has completed more than 1,200 trips, covering more than 32,000 km. With an average range of more than 400 km - in summer and winter weather - the car has refueled 113 times for a total of 411.46 kg of hydrogen, mainly at the DATS24 station in Halle.

The CO2 emissions for such a distance are over 6,300 kilograms for a diesel-powered cab, which is largely avoided by the hydrogen cab. Virya and Taxis Verts also point to the high driving comfort of a hydrogen-powered electric car, which only emits water vapor in the Brussels streets where it drives around.
