E4E Alliance of Electrolyser Manufacturers Aims to Strengthen Europe’s Hydrogen Industry
Six leading European electrolyser manufacturers have created a new alliance, Electrolysers for Europe (E4E), to strengthen Europe’s position in the global clean hydrogen market. The group - ITM Power, John Cockerill, Nel, Sunfire, thyssenkrupp nucera, and Topsoe - presented a manifesto on 4 February with plans to scale up production, support up to one million jobs, and generate as much as €200 billion in export value by 2040.
Together, the companies employ more than 13,000 people and have over 10 GW of annual manufacturing capacity across five European countries, ten times more than a few years ago. However, while production capacity has grown quickly, project deployment is lagging behind. The EU’s 6 GW installation target for 2024 is far from being met, with less than 1 GW installed so far. The coalition says industry has delivered and now calls on policymakers to match that effort.
