Dutch direction: 2,1 billion EUR boost for hydrogen
The Netherlands is doubling down on hydrogen. Aligned with its broader climate and energy resilience goals, the Dutch Cabinet on Green Growth has approved a new package of measures aimed at accelerating industrial decarbonisation. Among the highlights: 2,1 billion EUR to support domestic hydrogen production and 662 million EUR to encourage industrial uptake. The government also introduced a 4% mandatory share of renewable hydrogen use and revised regulations to make green hydrogen more attractive in fuel production. These national efforts echo recent international partnerships, such as the hydrogen import corridor linking Oman’s Duqm to Amsterdam and Duisburg. Together, they signal that the Netherlands is not only preparing to import hydrogen, but also taking steps to produce and apply it at home.
