Belgian Hydrogen Council conference 4th edition highlights Belgian expertise in international projects

The annual conference of the Belgian Hydrogen Council is in its fourth year and will be held on a new location, the wonderful Maison de la Poste at the Tour & Taxis site in Brussels.

For this year’s edition, we have chosen to highlight the activities and achievements of our Belgian companies on the international hydrogen scene, under the theme ‘Belgian Hydrogen Expertise – Powering International Projects.’

The programme opens with insights from the Hydrogen Council's Global Hydrogen Compass 2026, providing an international perspective on hydrogen deployment with a focus on Europe’s position in relation to other regions.  In a later session, a discussion is programmed on how to deal with China (Silk Road partners & John Cockerill), addressing both the opportunities that the quickly evolving hydrogen market in China can offer for European players and the protective measures that are needed to safeguard our industry here.

In the session on international projects, leading Belgian companies, including CMB.TECH, Agfa, DEME, TES Hydrogen, Port of Antwerp-Bruges International and Engie, will highlight their role in partnerships being built related to green ammonia and hydrogen technologies to e-fuels and global hydrogen supply chains. Partner organisations from Sweden, Brazil, Norway, Namibia and beyond. Enabel will focus on human value creation besides business, with their educational project in Namibia.

In a dedicated session on Belgian Hydrogen Technology Champions, innovative developments in solid oxide technology (Bosal), underground hydrogen storage (UGent), testing of hydrogen components (Beblue Cryotech) and sustainable aviation fuels (Ionect) will take centre stage.

A panel bringing together representatives from five European hydrogen valleys – among which the Belgian valleys FLHyPorts and GreenWaHyve, will explore how cross-border collaboration and regional synergies can accelerate the development of a sustainable European hydrogen ecosystem.

As special ‘hot topic’, we will also shed light on the emerging opportunities for natural (white) hydrogen in Belgium, with the Cabinet of Min. Crucke providing background on their funding for the topic, and the Belgian geological survey explaining how they are mapping the probability to find white hydrogen in Belgian soil.

The conference will conclude with important policy perspectives for Flanders, with a keynote address by Flemish Minister-President Matthias Diependaele.

The event will close with a networking reception, offering an excellent opportunity to connect with key stakeholders from Belgium and the wider international hydrogen community.
