Auction, action and EU Hydrogen bank’s second auction results

The European Hydrogen Bank has announced the results of its second auction, awarding €992 million in funding to 15 renewable hydrogen projects across Europe. The selected initiatives aim to produce 2,2 million tonnes of renewable hydrogen over ten years, helping to avoid 15 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The funding is intended to close the cost gap between renewable hydrogen and conventional fuels - accelerating the uptake of clean hydrogen in sectors such as transport, chemicals, methanol, and ammonia production.

Premiums range from €0,20/kg to €0,60/kg, with most projects bidding under €0,50/kg.  For maritime, the premium requested by the awarded project promoters ranged from €0,45/kg to €1,88/kg.

Unlike the first auction of the Hydrogen Bank, where all selected projects were located in either the north or south of Europe, this second edition also brought success to 'our' region. Notable winning projects include the Zeevonk Electrolyser in the Netherlands, along with Meridiam and the H2-Hub Lumin in Germany.
