22 million funding for hydrogen refuelling stations and trucks
Dutch State Secretary Heijnen (Infrastructure and Water Management) is launching a €22 million subsidy scheme for more hydrogen filling stations and trucks. She writes in a letter to the “Tweede Kamer” that the government should speed up hydrogen-powered trucks and other heavy traffic.
With the subsidy scheme, Heijnen aims to boost the use of hydrogen as a fuel on the road. The 2019 Climate Accord sets targets to further develop hydrogen in mobility, alongside battery-electric driving. One of the targets is to develop 50 hydrogen filling stations by 2025. Currently, 14 public hydrogen refuelling stations are in operation, some of which are also suitable for heavy road transport. Scaling up is needed to reach the target of 50 refuelling stations.
