INEOS trials liquid hydrogen truck with Daimler and Vervaeke

INEOS is collaborating with Daimler Truck AG and logistics partner Vervaeke to trial the Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck, Europe’s first heavy-duty truck powered by liquid hydrogen. As part of the pilot, Vervaeke has been delivering shipments from INEOS Inovyn to customers in Germany and the Benelux region. The truck can transport up to 25 tonnes over a distance of more than 1 000 km on a single tank, offering a glimpse into the future of zero-emission long-haul transport. The trial, first announced in the spring in 2024, has now started.

“Since we started the trial, many hauliers have reached out to us, which shows that the logistics sector is clearly prioritising CO₂ reduction,” said Dirk Dupon, Head of Hydrogen at INEOS Inovyn. While some early-stage technical issues remain, the pilot marks a promising step toward decarbonising road freight in Europe.
