Ineos invests in hydrogen boiler at Inovyn site Antwerp

Ineos is investing in the construction of a hydrogen boiler at its Antwerp site. At the chlorine plant of Ineos subsidiary Inovyn, hydrogen is released as a by-product. The company now wants to use this hydrogen to produce steam. Until now, a third of the hydrogen produced remained unused.

Inovyn has applied for a licence to build the hydrogen boiler, which involves an investment of around 10 million euros. The boiler should be commissioned before the end of 2024. The boiler will have a capacity of 22 MW, capable of producing around 25 tonnes of steam per hour. This will meet 65 per cent of its steam needs.
