Energy Transition Fund (BE)
The Energy Transition Fund aims to stimulate and support research, development, and innovation within the scope of federal energy competences to advance the energy transition. To this end, the Directorate-General for Energy launches an annual call for projects, with federal responsibilities divided into three thematic axes: (1) renewable energy sources in the Belgian Exclusive Economic Zone of the North Sea and biofuels, (2) nuclear energy applications, and (3) security of supply and grid balance.
In accordance with the federal coalition agreement, it was decided that the project call of 6 November 2025 will be given priority for thematic axis 2, ‘nuclear energy applications.’ Projects falling under thematic axes 1 and 3 will only be eligible for support insofar as and to the extent that the available budget is not allocated to proposals under thematic axis 2.
Registration of project proposals to be submitted has to happen on December 11th 2025 at the latest. Closing date for the call for projects (i.e., deadline for submitting project proposals) is January 21st 2026.
