Green Energy Park

Green Energy Park is a living lab located on the outskirts of Brussels, dedicated to accelerate the energy transition by enabling system-level testing and validation of high-TRL innovations. It’s an inspiring, versatile and real‑life environment where climate, energy and mobility innovations accelerate toward market‑ready solutions.

At the heart of its infrastructure lies the Smart Village Lab, which replicates a real-life energy ecosystem. It includes smart homes equipped with photovoltaic systems, residential batteries, and flexible loads, as well as neighbourhood-scale battery energy storage systems and EV charging infrastructure.

A key pillar of Green Energy Park is its Hydrogen Research Facility, designed to explore the role of hydrogen within local energy systems. It provides a highly controlled, safety-compliant environment, including available ATEX Zone 2 space, enabling both component-level testing and system-level integration. The hydrogen lab is embedded in a strong ecosystem of hydrogen related companies and is designed to support testing, demonstration, and upscaling activities for research on sustainable gasses. It includes hydrogen panels, an electrolyser and a fuel cell, all embedded within the broader multi-energy living lab. Extra components can be easily integrated as the H2 backbone is already provided. This setup enables researchers and industry partners to better understand how hydrogen can be deployed in a cost-efficient way to reduce pressure on the electricity grid.
